Abstract:【Objective】To investigate the effect of single load with small dose esmolol on hemodynamic parameters of the elderly patients undergoing painless gastroscopy. 【Methods】A total of 160 elderly patients underwent painless gastroscopy were randomly divided into the observation group and the control group,with 80 cases in each group. The observation group was given a low dose of esmolol 0.3 mg/kg intravenously,while the control group was given a high dose of esmolol 0.5 mg/kg intravenously. The injection time of the two groups was administrated within 15 to 30 seconds. Hemodynamic parameters [heart rate (HR),systolic blood pressure (SBP),diastolic blood pressure (DBP) and oxygen saturation (SpO2)] before and after examination were compared between the two groups. After examination,the length of hospital observation,the duration of anesthesia wakefulness,the score of the Simple Mental State Assessment Scale (MMSE),the amount of anesthesia and the occurrence of adverse reactions between the two groups were compared as well. 【Results】After examination,HR,SBP and DBP levels of the two groups were lower than those before examination (P<0.05),however,HR,SBP and DBP of the observation group were higher than those of the control group (P<0.05). There was no statistical significance in SpO2 between the two groups before and after examination (P>0.05). There were no significant differences in hospital observation time,anesthetic waking time,MMSE score and anesthetic dosage between the two groups (P>0.05). The incidence of adverse reactions in the observation group was significantly lower than that in the control group (P<0.05). 【Conclusion】Esmolol has a significant anesthetic effect in the elderly for painless gastroscopy,and small doses of esmolol are more conducive to stable blood circulation,and the adverse reactions are small,so it is recommended for clinical application.
