Abstract:【Objective】To investigate the expression of matrix metalloproteinase 2 (MMP-2) and a disintegrin and metalloproteinase 17 (ADAM17) in osteosarcoma and its clinical significance.【Methods】The osteosarcoma tissues and normal adjacent tissues (at least 2 cm from the tumor edge) were collected from 53 cases of orthopaedic open surgery in our hospital. The expression levels of MMP-2 and ADAM17 in 53 osteosarcoma tissues were detected and compared, and to analyze the correlation between them and the clinicopathological characteristics of osteosarcoma patients.【Results】The positive expression rate of MMP-2 in osteosarcoma was 73.58%, which was significantly higher than 18.87% in normal tissues adjacent to cancer. The positive expression rate of ADAM17 in osteosarcoma was 79.25%, which was significantly higher than 5.66% in normal tissues adjacent to cancer (P<0.05); The expression level of MMP-2 and ADAM17 protein in osteosarcoma was significantly higher than that in normal tissues (P<0.05); The positive expression rates of MMP-2 and ADAM17 were correlated with distant metastasis and ennecking stage (P<0.05), but not with age, sex and tumor diameter (P>0.05). Spearman correlation showed that MMP-2 was positively correlated with ADAM17 expression in osteosarcoma (P<0.05). 【Conclusion】The positive expression rate of MMP-2 and ADAM17 in osteosarcoma group is significantly higher than that in adjacent normal tissues. The expression of MMP-2 and ADAM17 is related to the distant metastasis and ennecking stage of the patients. The expression of MMP-2 and ADAM17 in osteosarcoma is positively correlated, which is of great significance for the diagnosis, prognosis and treatment of osteosarcoma.
