Abstract:【Objective】 To investigate the expression of stem cell markers CD44 and ALDH1 and their relationship with clinical pathological features in cervical cancer. 【Methods】 A total of 78 cases of cervical cancer specimens and 23 cases of adjacent cancer tissues were collected from the Department of Pathology in People's Hospital of Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region from January 2018 to December 2019. The expression of CD44 protein and ALDH1 protein was detected by immunohistochemistry, and the relationship between them and clinicopathological characteristics were analyzed.【Results】 The positive sites of CD44 protein were mainly located in the cell membrane, while ALDH1 protein was mainly located in the cell membrane and cytoplasm, and they were yellow to brown. The positive expression rates of CD44 and ALDH1 protein in cervical cancer tissues were 51.3% (40/78) and 41.0% (32/78), respectively, which were significantly higher than those in adjacent tissues (21.7% (5/23) and 17.4% (4/23), and the differences were statistically significant (χ2=6.276,P=0.012;χ2=4.325,P=0.038). The positive expression rate of CD44 and ALDH1 protein in cervical cancer tissue was related to tumor diameter and differentiation degree (P<0.05); the positive expression rate of CD44 protein in cervical cancer tissue was related to clinical stage degree (P<0.05), but the positive expression rate of ALDH1 protein was not related to clinical stage (P>0.05).【Conclusion】 The positive expression of CD44 and ALDH1 is related to the malignant biological behavior of cervical cancer, which may affect the prognosis of cervical cancer patients.
