Abstract:【Objective】To investigate the expression levels of matrix metalloproteinase-2 (MMP-2), matrix metalloproteinase-9 (MMP-9) and carcinoembryonic antigen-associated cell adhesion molecule-1 (CEACAM-1) in colon cancer tissues and the correlation with clinicopathological factors and prognosis. 【Methods】Sixty colon cancer patients who underwent radical resection of colon cancer in our hospital were enrolled. The samples of cancer tissues, paracancerous tissues and normal colon tissues were obtained and the expression levels of MMP-9, MMP-2 and CEACAM-1 were detected. The correlation of clinicopathological factors and disease-free survival (DFS) with expression of MMP-9, MMP-2 and CEACAM-1 were analyzed. 【Results】The positive rates of MMP-9, MMP-2 and CEACAM-1 expression in cancer tissues were higher than those in adjacent tissues and normal colon tissues(P<0.05), and the positive rates of MMP-9, MMP-2 and CEACAM-1 expression in adjacent tissues were higher than normal colon tissue (P<0.05). The expressions of MMP-9, MMP-2 and CEACAM-1 were correlated with serosal invasion, TNM staging, lymph node metastasis and vascular invasion (P<0.05), and their expressions were not correlated with tumor diameter and tumor differentiation (P>0.05). The patients were followed up for 12-38 months, and 28 patients with recurrence and metastasis were showed up. COX multivariate analysis showed that MMP-9, MMP-2, CEACAM-1, TNM, lymph node metastasis were independent prognostic factors for DFS. 【Conclusion】MMP-9, MMP-2 and CEACAM-1 are highly expressed in colon cancer tissues, and high expression is associated with poor prognosis.
