Abstract:【Objective】To investigate the association between the polymorphism of serotonin transporter (5-HTT) gene and adolescent self-injury and suicide behavior. 【Methods】 A total of 226 adolescents in the region from November 2020 to October 2021 were selected as the research subjects. According to whether the subjects had self-injury or suicide behavior,they were divided into the occurrence group and the non-occurrence group. Peripheral venous blood was collected to extract blood genomic DNA,and the 5-HTT gene polymorphism was determined using polymerase chain reaction-restriction fragment length polymorphism(PCR-RFLP).The Hardy-weinberg genetic equilibrium law was used to verify whether the genotype frequency of the subjects was representative. The 5-HTT genotype distribution and allele frequency were compared between the occurrence group and the non-occurrence group,and the risk factors affecting adolescent self-injury and suicide behavior were analyzed using logistic regression.【Results】 The genotype frequency of 5-HTT gene in the subjects of this study was tested by Hardy-weinberg genetic equilibrium,and the difference was not statistically significant(P>0.05). The occurrence group had a higher proportion of single-parent families,drunkenness,running away from home,loneliness,lovelorn,and learning pressure than the non-occurrence group(P<0.05). The frequency of SS genotype and S allele in the occurrence group was higher than that in the non-occurrence group(P<0.05). The logistic regression analysis showed that drunkenness,lovelorn,learning pressure,5-HTT genotype as SS/SL,and 5-HTT allele as S were all risk factors affecting the occurrence of adolescent self-injury and suicide behavior(P<0.05). 【Conclusions】The polymorphism of 5-HTT gene is associated with adolescent self-injury and suicide behavior.The SS genotype of 5-HTT gene may be a susceptibility gene for adolescent self-injury and suicide,and the S allele may be a risk allele for adolescent self-injury and suicide.
