Abstract:【Objective】To investigate the abnormal glycosylation of serum IgA1 in children with Henoch Schonlein purpura(HSP)and reveal the correlation with oxidative stress. 【Methods】A total of 116 children with HSP admitted to our hospital included 79 cases of simple HSP (HSP group) and 37 cases of Henoch Schonlein purpura nephritis (HSPN group). Volunteers of 30 healthy children were used as the control group. The levels of abnormal glycosylation of serum IgA1, total serum IgA1,serum superoxide dismutase (SOD), glutathione peroxidase (GSH-PX), malondialdehyde (MDA) and advanced oxidation protein product (AOPPs) were measured and compared in the three groups, and their correlations were analyzed. 【Results】The serum IgA1 and abnormal glycosylation levels of IgA1 in the control group were lower than those in both HSP group and HSPN group, while the HSP group levels were lower than those of the HSPN group; the differences were statistically significant (P<0.05).The levels of SOD and GSH-PX in the control group were higher than those in the HSP group and the HSPN group; and the levels in the HSP group were higher than those in the HSPN group. The levels of MDA and AOPPs in the control group were lower than those in the HSP group and the HSPN group; and levels of the HSP group were lower than those of the HSPN group (P<0.05). Spearman analysis showed that IgA1 and the abnormal glycosylation of IgA1 were negatively correlated with SOD and GSH-PX (P<0.05), but positively correlated with MDA and AOPPs (P<0.05). 【Conclusion】The levels of IgA1 and abnormal glycosylation of serum IgA1 in children with HSP are high, which are significant correlation with oxidative stress.
