Abstract:【Objective】 To investigate the clinical efficacy of external application of traditional Chinese medicine combined with Erxian Decoction in the treatment of patients with Hashimoto's thyroiditis (HT) accompanied by nodules (phlegm stagnation and blood stasis syndrome). 【Methods】 A total of 196 patients with HT accompanied by nodules (phlegm stagnation and blood stasis syndrome) admitted from June 2022 to December 2024 were enrolled and randomly divided into a control group and an observation group, with 98 cases in each group. The control group was treated with Erxian Decoction alone, while the observation group received Erxian Decoction combined with external application of traditional Chinese medicine. The traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) syndrome scores, thyroid function, antibody levels, and the maximum transverse diameter of thyroid nodules were compared between the two groups before and after treatment. 【Results】 Before treatment, there were no statistically significant differences in all observed indicators between the two groups (all P>0.05). After treatment, the TCM syndrome scores in the observation group were significantly lower than those in the control group (all P<0.05). The levels of thyroid-stimulating hormone (TSH) and free thyroxine (FT4) in the observation group were significantly higher than those in the control group (all P<0.05), while the levels of thyroid peroxidase antibody (TPOAb) and thyroglobulin antibody (TgAb) were significantly lower than those in the control group (all P<0.05). The maximum transverse diameter of thyroid nodules in both groups decreased compared with before treatment, and the maximum transverse diameter in the observation group was significantly smaller than that in the control group (P<0.05). 【Conclusion】 The combination of Erxian Decoction and external application of traditional Chinese medicine can effectively improve TCM syndrome manifestations in patients with HT accompanied by nodules, regulate thyroid function, reduce thyroid-related antibody levels, and shrink thyroid nodules. The clinical efficacy is significant and worthy of further promotion in clinical practice.
