Abstract：【Objective】 To investigate the clinical efficacy of Xiaochaihu Decoction combined with Liuwei Dihuang Pills in the treatment of children with attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD).【Methods】 A total of 90 children with ADHD were randomly assigned to either a control group or an observation group, with 45 cases in each group. The control group received relaxation training combined with psychological intervention, while the observation group received Xiaochaihu Decoction plus Liuwei Dihuang Pills in addition to the same interventions as the control group. Changes in traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) syndrome scores, serum indicators [cortisol (CORT), adrenocorticotropic hormone (ACTH), and plasma ghrelin(GHRP)], cognitive function [Wechsler Intelligence Scale for Children-Chinese Revision (WISC-CR) score], and behavioral performance [Swanson Nolan and Pelham Rating Scale-Ⅳ (SNAP-Ⅳ) score] were compared before and after treatment in the two groups.【Results】 After treatment, the observation group showed significantly lower TCM syndrome scores than the control group (P<0.05). Levels of CORT and ACTH in the observation group were lower than that in the control group, while GHRP level in the observation group were higher than that in the control group (P<0.05). WISC-CR scores were higher, and SNAP-Ⅳ scores across all dimensions were lower in the observation group compared with the control group (P<0.05).【Conclusion】 Xiaochaihu Decoction combined with Liuwei Dihuang Pills can effectively improve TCM syndrome manifestations, regulate related serum hormone levels, enhance cognitive function, and alleviate behavioral abnormalities in children with ADHD.
