Abstract:【Objective】 To investigate the relationship between aquaporin 4 (AQP4),vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) and peritumoral edema in adult glioma.【Methods】 A total of 80 adult glioma tissue specimens (observation group) preserved in our hospital from January 2017 to February 2020 were selected, and 50 normal brain tissues were selected as the control group. The expression of AQP4 and VEGF was detected by immunohistochemical staining, and the positive expression of AQP4 and VEGF in patients with different levels of peritumoral edema was analyzed. 【Results】The positive expression rates of VEGF and AQP4 in the observation group were significantly higher than those in the control group (P<0.05). The positive expression rates of VEGF and AQP4 in high-grade gliomas were significantly higher than those in low-grade gliomas (P<0.05); There was no significant difference in gender, age, hypertension, diabetes, hyperlipidemia, tumor diameter, tumor number and tumor location (P>0.05). With the increase of peritumoral edema level, the positive expression rates of VEGF and AQP4 increased significantly (P<0.05). Spearman rank correlation analysis showed that the positive expression of AQP4 and VEGF in glioma was positively correlated (rs=0.451,P<0.05). 【Conclusion】 The positive expression rates of AQP4 and VEGF in adult gliomas are significantly increased, which is related to the pathological grade and the degree of peritumoral edema.
