Abstract:【Objective】 To investigate the clinical effect of video-assisted thoracoscopic surgery (VATS) in the treatment of elderly patients with small nodule non-small cell lung cancer (snNSCLC). 【Methods】 A total of 120 elderly patients with snNSCLC treated in our hospital from January 2016 to March 2019 were selected, the patients were divided into observation group (n=62) and observation group (n=58) according to the selected surgical scheme, the observation group was treated with VATS, while the control group was treated with traditional thoracotomy, the operation time and bleeding volume and so on were observed. 【Results】 The operation time, bleeding volume and drainage volume in the observation group were (180.64±23.34) min, (260.51±52.87) mL and (630.03±100.45) mL, which were significantly less than those in the control group (P<0.05); The levels of C-reactive protein (CRP), tumor necrosis factor-α (TNF-α), cortisol and prostaglandin E2 (PGE2) in the observation group at3 days after operation were (40.10±5.54) mg/L, (63.35 ±5.15) pg/mL, (120.05±25.54) ng/mL and (182.26±21.50) ng/mL, which were significantly lower than those in the control group (P<0.05);There were no significant difference in the incidence of complications, recurrence or metastasis between the observation group and the control group (P>0.05). 【Conclusion】 VATS has a good clinical effect in the treatment of elderly patients with snNSCLC, the patients'stress and inflammatory reaction are mild, which is worthy of clinical use.
