Abstract:【Objective】 To investigate the levels and significance of serum neuron specific enolase (NSE), interleukin-26 (IL-26) and T lymphocyte subsets in patients with acute herpes zoster. 【Methods】 Seventy-five patients with acute herpes zoster treated in our hospital from February 2016 to February 2019 were selected as the observation group, and 80 healthy volunteers were selected as the control group. Serum NSE, IL-26 and T lymphocyte subsets were measured in the two groups. 【Results】 The levels of serum NSE and IL-26 in the observation group were (13.10±2.71) g/L and (14.40±2.11) pg/mL, respectively, which were significantly higher than those in the control group (P<0.05), while the levels of CD3+, CD4+, and CD8+ were (56.69±10.01)%, (29.82±7.13)% and (25.52±6.82)%, respectively, which were significantly lower than those in the control group (P<0.05). Serum NSE and IL-26 in patients with moderate and severe pain were (14.91±2.00) g/L and (16.72 ±2.43) pg/mL, which were significantly higher than those in patients with mild pain (P<0.05). There were no significant differences in serum levels of CD3+, CD4+ and CD8+ among patients with mild, moderate and severe pain (P>0.05). Serum NSE and IL-26 were positively correlated with VAS score (r=0.401 and 0.332, respectively, P<0.05), while serum levels of CD3+, CD4+ and CD8+ were not correlated with VAS score (P>0.05). 【Conclusion】 The levels of serum NSE and IL-26 are increased and T lymphocyte subsets are disordered in patients with herpes zoster in acute stage, among which NSE and IL-26 are related to the degree of pain.
