Abstract:【Objective】 To investigate mRNA expression and significance of androgen receptor (AR) and estrogen receptor α (ERα) in peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMCs) of patients with chronic hepatitis B. 【Methods】 A total of 145 patients with chronic hepatitis B treated in our hospital from January 2018 to January 2019 (the observation group) and 145 healthy volunteers were selected as the control group. Levels of mRNA expression of AR and ERα in PBMCs was detected by real-time fluorescence quantitative polymerase chain reaction. 【Results】 The relative expression level of AR mRNA in PBMCs of the observation group was (0.351±0.101), was significantly lower than that of the control group (P<0.05), while the relative expression level of ERα mRNA was (0.643±0.121), was significantly higher than that of the control group (P<0.05). There were no significant differences in AR and ERα mRNA expression in PBMCs of patients with different gender, age, HBeAg expression and HBV viral load in the observation group (P>0.05).The relative expression level of AR mRNA in PBMCs of patients with liver fibrosis stage S3-S4 in observation group was (0.284±0.097), which were significantly lower than that in patients with S 0 and S1-S3 stage (P<0.05), while the relative expression level of ERα mRNA was (0.738±0.110), which were significantly higher than that in patients with S0 and S1-S3 stage (P<0.05). 【Conclusion】 In PBMCs of chronic hepatitis B patients, the AR mRNA expression is down-regulated and the ERα mRNA expression is up-regulated, which are related to the stage of hepatic fibrosis.
