Abstract:【Objective】 To explore serum levels of uric acid (UA), interleukin-6 (IL-6) and ferritin (SF) in patients with nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) and their clinical significances. 【Methods】 The clinical data of 82 patients with NAFLD admitted to our hospital from May 2016 to March 2018 were divided into the mild NAFLD group (n=27) and the moderate NAFLD group (n=34) and the severe NAFLD group (n=21). At the same time, 30 healthy subjects were selected as the control group. Serum levels of UA, IL-6, SF, blood lipids [total cholesterol (TC), triglycerides (TG)], liver function [aspartate aminotransferase (AST), alanine aminotransferase (ALT)] and insulin resistance [fasting plasma glucose (FBG), fasting Insulin (FINS), insulin resistance index (HOMA-IR)] were measured in all patients. 【Results】 Serum TG, TC,AST, ALT, UA, IL-6 levels in the NAFLD group were significant higher than those in the control group (P<0.05). Serum FBG, FINS,UA, IL-6 levels and HOMA-IR in the moderate and severe NAFLD groups were significant higher than those in the mild NAFLD group and the control group (P<0.05). The HOMA-IR value in the severe NAFLD group was significant higher than that in the moderate NAFLD group (P<0.05). Pearson correlation analysis showed that serum UA levels in cases with NAFLD were positively correlated with BMI (r=2.572), FINS (r=0.244) and HOMA-IR (r=2.730) (P<0.05) and serum IL-6 levels were positively correlated with BMI (r=2.375), ALT (r=2.728) and HOMA-IR (r=0.254) (P<0.05). It also showed that serum SF content was positively correlated with BMI (r=0.285), ALT (r=0.372), FINS (r=0.243), and HOMA-IR (r=0.274) (P<0.05). IL-6 was positively correlated with SF (r=0.304, P<0.05).【Conclusion】 Serum UA, IL-6 and SF levels in NAFLD patients were abnormally high, which were closely related to the severity of the disease and also highly correlated with insulin resistance.
