Abstract:【Objective】To investigate the levels of interleukin-6 (IL-6) in patients with pneumoconiosis, tuberculosis, and pneumoconiosis complicated with tuberculosis (TB). 【Methods】We selected 50 pneumoconiosis patients (group A), 50 pneumoconiosis patients with tuberculosis (group B), and 50 patients with tuberculosis (group C) who were diagnosed in this hospital from October 2015 to November 2016. At the same time, 50 healthy volunteers were selected as the control group (group D). All enrolled patients were male of age 45~75 years old. Serum IL-6 level were measured and compared among all 4 groups. 【Results】The levels of serum IL-6 in three groups (group A,B and C) were significantly higher than that in the control group (group D) (P<0.01). The levels of IL-6 in three groups of patients showed an increasing trend from group A to group C. There was a significant difference between the groups (P<0.01).【Conclusion】Serum IL-6 level was significantly associated with the pathogenesis of pneumoconiosis. The serum IL-6 level in patients with active tuberculosis is evidently higher than that in pneumoconiosis patients complicated with stable TB. The serum IL-6 level played an important role in the progress of TB and it has a certain auxiliary diagnostic value to determine the recurrence of TB and TB active status.
