Abstract:【Objective】To investigate the clinical effect of glass ion fossa and sulcus closure on prevention of second deciduous molar dental caries in preschool children. 【Methods】A total of 120 preschool children who underwent oral health examination in our hospital from July to October 2017 were randomly divided into the observation group and the control group, with 60 cases in each group (240 teeth of second deciduous molars in each group). The observation group was treated with ion fossa and sulcus closure technique, while the control group was treated with light-cured resin sealant. Follow-up was conducted at 6 months, 12 months and 18 months after operation. The retention rate of pit and fissure sealants and the incidence of dental caries were compared between the two groups after treatment. 【Results】There was no significant difference in the retention rate of pit and fissure sealants between the two groups at 6 months after operation (P>0.05), while the retention rate of pit and fissure sealants in the observation group at 12 months and 18 months after operation was significantly higher than that in the control group (P<0.05). There was no significant difference in the incidence of dental caries between the two groups at 6 months after operation (P>0.05), while the incidence of dental caries in the observation group at 12 months and 18 months after operation was significantly lower than that in the control group (P<0.05). 【Conclusion】Glass ion fossa and sulcus closure is an effective technique for pit and fissure sealing of deciduous teeth in preschool children, which can effectively improve the retention rate of pit and fissure sealing materials and reduce the incidence of dental caries in preschool children after operation.
