Abstract:【Objective】To investigate the correlation between visceral fat area(VFA) and cardiovascular and cerebrovascular complications in type 2 diabetes patients with normal body mass index(BMI). 【Methods】Retrospective analysis was conducted on the clinical data of 110 patients with T2DM with normal BMI admitted to our hospital from February 2019 to January 2023. They were divided into a control group(without cardiovascular and cerebrovascular complications,n=39) and an observation group(with cardiovascular and cerebrovascular complications,n=71) according to the presence or absence of cardiovascular and cerebrovascular complications. The VFA of the two groups of patients was compared, and the logistic multiple regression analysis model was used to analyze the influencing factors of cardiovascular and cerebrovascular complications in T2DM patients with normal BMI. The receiver operating characteristic(ROC) curve was drawn to analyze the predictive value of VFA for cardiovascular and cerebrovascular complications in T2DM patients with normal BMI. 【Results】The VFA level in the observation group was higher than that in the control group, and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.001). Age,course of diabetes, diastolic pressure, systolic pressure,triglyceride,low-density lipoprotein cholesterol, glycosylated hemoglobin, and mean platelet volume in the observation group were higher than those in the control group(P<0.05),while high-density lipoprotein cholesterol, direct bilirubin, and indirect bilirubin were lower than those in the control group(P<0.05). Logistic regression analysis showed that the increase of VFA,the long course of diabetes, the decrease of indirect bilirubin, and the increase of mean platelet volume were the influencing factors of cardiovascular and cerebrovascular complications in T2DM patients with normal BMI(P<0.05). The ROC curve results showed that the AUC value(95%CI) of VFA in predicting the occurrence of cardiovascular and cerebrovascular complications in T2DM patients with normal BMI was 0.793(0.690-0.875)(P<0.05). 【Conclusion】VFA has high predictive value for the risk of cardiovascular and cerebrovascular complications in T2DM patients with normal BMI.
