Abstract:【Objective】To investigate the effects of group cognitive intervention combined with scenario simulation experience on disease cognition and self-management ability in elderly patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus(T2DM). 【Methods】A total of 124 elderly patients with T2DM admitted from October 2015 to December 2016 were enrolled. The patients were divided into treatment group and control group with 62 cases in each group by random number table method. The control group received routine nursing interventions including health education, exercise guidance, dietary intervention, and prevention of complications. The treatment group used group cognitive intervention and scenario simulation training. The disease cognition, self-management ability, and blood glucose control were compared between the two groups. 【Results】 Scores of "how much your life affects by diabetes", "How long will your diabetes last?", "How much can you control diabetes?", " How much diabetes treatment can help you ", "How much do you feel about diabetes symptoms?", "How much do you care about diabetes?", "How much do you know about diabetes?" and "How much does diabetes affect your emotions?" of the the treatment group were significantly higher than those of the control group. P<0.05); The diet management, exercise management, blood glucose monitoring, foot care, drug and insulin scores of the treatment group were significantly higher than those of the control group (P<0.05). The blood glucose before meals and the blood glucose 2h after the meal in the treatment group were significantly lower than those in the control group (P<0.05). 【Conclusion】Group cognitive intervention combined with scenario simulation experience can improve the disease cognition level of elderly T2DM patients, promote the development of self-management ability, and control blood sugar levels.
