Abstract:【Objective】To explore the risk factors for pulmonary infection in elderly patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) and corresponding nursing intervention countermeasures. 【Methods】A total of 150 elderly COPD patients with pulmonary infection treated in our hospital from January 2022 to July 2024 were selected as the observation group, and another 150 COPD patients without pulmonary infection treated in our hospital during the same period were selected as the control group. Clinical data of patients were collected to analyze the risk factors for pulmonary infection in COPD patients, and corresponding nursing interventions were proposed. 【Results】Univariate analysis showed that age, disease course, length of hospital stay, ventilator-related microbial infection, and history of diabetes mellitus were influencing factors for pulmonary infection in elderly COPD patients (P<0.05); Logistic multivariate regression analysis revealed that advanced age, long disease course, prolonged hospital stay, ventilator-related microbial infection, and history of diabetes mellitus were independent risk factors for pulmonary infection in elderly COPD patients (P<0.05). 【Conclusion】Advanced age, long disease course, prolonged hospital stay, ventilator-related microbial infection, and history of diabetes mellitus are independent risk factors for pulmonary infection in elderly COPD patients. Clinically, targeted nursing interventions should be implemented for elderly COPD patients based on the above-identified risk factors to reduce the incidence of pulmonary infection.
