Abstract:【Objective】 To explore the effect of auricular point pressing with beans on emergence agitation(EA) in children undergoing ophthalmic surgery under general anesthesia.【Methods】 A total of 78 children who underwent elective ophthalmic surgery in our hospital from June to December 2024 were selected. They were divided into the observation group and the control group by random number table method, with 39 cases in each group. The observation group received auricular point pressing with beans before anesthesia induction, with five points selected:Sympathetic, Shenmen, Chuiqian(Anterior Lobe), Occiput, and Liver. The control group only had adhesive tape applied without auricular beans. The occurrence of EA in the post-anesthesia care unit(PACU) at 10 min(T1), 20 min(T2), and 30 min(T3) was compared between the two groups. Additionally, the Pediatric Anesthesia Emergence Delirium(PAED) score, EA incidence at different time points, Ramsay Sedation Score, Face, Legs, Activity, Cry, Consolability(FLACC) Pain Assessment Scale score, awakening time, PACU stay time, and parental satisfaction were compared between the two groups.【Results】 The PAED scores of the observation group at T1, T2, and T3 during the awakening period in PACU were lower than those of the control group, with statistically significant differences(P<0.05). The incidence of EA in the observation group at T1 was 13.89%(5/36), which was significantly lower than 37.14%(13/35) in the control group, with a statistically significant difference(χ2=4.35, P=0.032). There were no statistically significant differences in Ramsay Sedation Score and FLACC score between the two groups during the post-anesthesia recovery period(P>0.05). The awakening time and PACU stay time of the observation group were shorter than those of the control group, and the parental satisfaction score was higher than that of the control group, with statistically significant differences(P<0.05).【Conclusion】 Auricular point pressing with beans can effectively reduce the incidence of emergence agitation in children undergoing ophthalmic surgery under general anesthesia and accelerate the awakening of children, which is worthy of clinical reference.
