Comparison of Incidence of Perioperative Complications between Parkinson's Disease Orthopedic Surgery and Non-orthopedic Surgery Patients:A retrospective analysis

Abstract:【Objective】We retrospectively analyzed the incidence of perioperative complications between Parkinson's disease orthopedic surgery and non-orthopedic surgery patients to provide the basis of the perioperative management of Parkinson's patients (PD). 【Methods】Parkinson's disease patients who accept surgical treatment in our hospital during January 2014 to December 2019 were selected. All patients were divided into the orthopedic group and non-orthopedic group. The basic information, the use rate of postoperative analgesia pump and the incidence of perioperative complications were compared. 【Results】Among 84 Parkinson's disease patients with surgery, there were 25 cases in the orthopedics group and 59 cases in the the non-orthopedic group. The basic information showed no significance in statistics between two groups(P>0.05). The use rate of postoperative analgesia pump in the orthopedics group was higher than that in the non-orthopedic group (P<0.05).The incidence of postoperative pain in the orthopedics group was higher than that in the non-orthopedic group (P<0.05).The vasoactive agent usage, postoperative pulmonary infection, urinary tract infection, wound infection, gastrointestinal reactions, postoperative delirium, arrhythmia, cardiac insufficiency and respiratory insufficiency did not show statistical significance between two groups (P>0.05). 【Conclusion】The incidence of postoperative pain in Parkinson's disease patients with orthopedic surgery is higher than Parkinson's disease with non-orthopedic surgery.
