Abstract:【Objective】To investigate the therapeutic efficacy of roxadustat on elderly patients with chronic renal failure (CRF) accompanied by renal anemia and its effects on iron metabolism.【Methods】Ninety elderly patients with CRF and renal anemia were randomly divided into a control group and an observation group, with 45 cases in each. The control group received recombinant human erythropoietin (rhEPO) injection therapy, while the observation group was treated with roxadustat capsules. The two groups were compared in terms of clinical efficacy, iron metabolism indicators [serum iron (Fe), ferritin (FER), transferrin (TRF)], anemia-related parameters [hemoglobin (Hb), erythropoietin (EPO), hematocrit (HCT)], inflammatory factors [tumor necrosis factor-α (TNF-α), interleukin-6 (IL-6), and C-reactive protein (CRP)], and incidence of adverse reactions.【Results】After treatment, the total effective rate in the observation group was significantly higher than that in the control group (P<0.05). Serum Fe and TRF levels in the observation group were higher, while FER level was lower than that in the control group (P<0.05). Compared to the control group, the levels of Hb, EPO, and HCT were significantly higher in the observation group (P<0.05),while TNF-α, IL-6, and CRP levels were significantly lower in the observation group (P<0.05). The incidence of adverse reactions showed no significant difference between the two groups (P>0.05).【Conclusion】 Roxadustat can effectively improve iron metabolism and anemia in elderly patients with CRF accompanied by renal anemia and reduce inflammatory responses.
