Effect of Functional Electrical Stimulation Combined with New Bobath Technique on Rehabilitation of Shoulder Pain in Stroke Patients with Shoulder Pain

Abstract:【Objective】 To investigate the effect of functional electrical stimulation (FES) combined with new Bobath technique on the rehabilitation of stroke patients with shoulder pain.【Methods】 A total of 90 stroke patients with shoulder pain were randomly divided into a control group (treated with new Bobath technique) and an observation group (treated with FES combined with new Bobath technique), with 45 patients in each group. The clinical efficacy of the two groups was compared.【Results】 The total effective rate in the observation group was higher than that in the control group (P<0.05). After treatment, the visual analog scale (VAS) scores in both groups were lower than before treatment (P<0.05), with the observation group showing lower scores than the control group (P<0.05). The Fugl-Meyer motor function scores in both groups were higher than before treatment (P<0.05), with the observation group scoring higher than the control group (P<0.05). The range of motion scores for shoulder flexion, abduction, and external rotation in both groups improved compared to before treatment (P<0.05), with the observation group showing greater improvements than the control group (P<0.05). Quality of life scores in both groups were higher than before treatment (P<0.05), with the observation group showing higher scores than the control group (P<0.05).【Conclusion】 FES combined with new Bobath technique is more effective in the rehabilitation of stroke patients with shoulder pain and is worthy of clinical promotion.
