Abstract:【Objective】To explore the effect of hyperbaric oxygen therapy on severe traumatic brain injury in children. 【Methods】A total of 124 children with severe traumatic brain injury, who admitted to our hospital from September 2020 to September 2023, were collected and divided into the control group and the study group using a random number table method, with 62 cases in each group. Patients in the control group received routine treatment, while those in the research group received hyperbaric oxygen treatment on the basis of the control group. The Glasgow coma scale(GCS) score, NIHSS score, percutaneous oxygen saturation, arterial oxygen partial pressure, cerebral blood flow, awakening rate, awakening time, and treatment effectiveness of two groups of children before and after treatment were analyzed. 【Results】After treatment, the GCS scores of the two groups of children were higher than before treatment, while the NIHSS scores were lower than before treatment. The difference between the observation group and the control group was statistically significant (P<0.05). After treatment, the transcutaneous blood oxygen saturation and arterial oxygen partial pressure of the two groups were higher than before treatment, meanwhile the cerebral blood flow was lower than before treatment. The difference between the observation group and the control group was statistically significant (P<0.05). The awakening rate in the observation group was higher than that in the control group, and the awakening time was shorter than that in the control group, with statistically significant differences (P<0.05). The total effective rate of the observation group was higher than that in the control group, with statistically significant differences (P<0.05).【Conclusion】The application of hyperbaric oxygen in the treatment of severe traumatic brain injury in children can effectively improve transcutaneous oxygen saturation and arterial oxygen partial pressure, reduce cerebral blood flow in children, and thus achieve the effect of protecting children's neural cells and improving neural function.
