Abstract:【Objective】 To evaluate the application value of risk grading nursing based on the Standard Swallowing Function Assessment Scale (SSA) in preventing misaspiration in elderly patients. 【Methods】 A total of 88 elderly hospitalized patients admitted to the psychiatric department of our hospital from March 2021 to March 2022 were selected and randomly divided into an observation group and a control group using a random number table method, with 44 patients in each group. The control group received routine nursing intervention, while the observation group received risk graded nursing under SSA assessment. The quality of life, risk of aspiration, and changes in swallowing function were compared between the two groups on the day after admission and 6 weeks after hospitalization.【Results】 After 6 weeks of hospitalization, the DHI scores of the two groups of patients were lower than the day after admission, and the observation group was lower than the control group, with a statistically significant difference (P<0.05); The SSA scores of the two groups of patients were lower than those on the day after admission, the observation group was lower than the control group, and the risk of misaspiration in the observation group was lower than the control group, with a statistically significant difference (P<0.05). The incidence of aspiration pneumonia and reflux esophagitis in the observation group was lower than that in the control group, with a statistically significant difference (P<0.05). 【Conclusion】 Risk graded nursing based on SSA assessment can prevent the occurrence of misaspiration in elderly patients, improve their swallowing function, and improve their quality of life.
