Abstract:【Objective】 To explore the expression and clinical significance of metastasis-associated protein 2 (MTA2) and fibroblast growth factor receptor-like protein 1 (FGFRL1) in patients with cervical squamous cell carcinoma. 【Methods】 A total of 85 patients with cervical squamous cell carcinoma admitted to the hospital from February 2019 to February 2020 were selected and the cancer tissue and corresponding paracancerous tissue specimens from those cases were collected. The immunohistochemical method was used to detect the expression levels of MTA2 and FGFRL1,and their integrated optical density (IOD) was determined by computer image analysis technology. The expression levels of MTA2 and FGFRL1 in cancer tissues and adjacent tissues were compared. Deaths of patients with cervical squamous cell carcinoma were counted with 2-year follow-up,while the clinical characteristics of the dead and the surviving patients were compared. Logistic regression was used to analyze the factors affecting the death of patients with cervical squamous cell carcinoma,the receiver operating curve (ROC) was used to analyze the value of MTA2 and FGFRL1 expression levels in predicting the death of patients with cervical squamous cell carcinoma. 【Results】 The IOD values of both MTA2 and FGFRL1 in cancer tissues were higher than those in adjacent tissues (P<0.05). Comparing to the surviving patients,the composition ratio of lymph node metastasis,tumor differentiation degree,and both MTA2 IOD value and FGFRL1 IOD value of dead patients were significantly different (P<0.05). Logistic multivariate regression analysis showed that lymph node metastasis,MTA2 IOD value,FGFRL1 IOD value were independent risk factors affecting the death of cervical squamous cell carcinoma patients (P<0.05). ROC analysis showed that the best cut-off points for cancer tissue MTA2 and FGFRL1 IOD values to predict death of cervical squamous cell carcinoma patients were 0.63 and 9.88,respectively,whose the sensitivity were 78.12% and 75.00%,the specificity were 78.43% and 80.39%. The area under the curve (AUC) were 0.706 and 0.767,respectively,and the specificity and AUC of the combination of the two were 96.08% and 0.831,respectively. 【Conclusion】 The IOD values of both MTA2 and FGFRL1 in cervical squamous cell carcinoma are abnormally increased. MTA2 and FGFRL1 of cancer tissues are independent risk factors that affect the death of patients. Clinical detection of MTA2 and FGFRL1 IOD values in cancer tissues of patients with cervical squamous cell carcinoma can be used as sensitive indicators to predict patient death.
