Abstract:【Objective】To investigate the functional changes and clinical significance of serum leukotriene B4 (LTB4), interleukin 17 (IL-17) and pulmonary function in children with acute bronchial asthma. 【Methods】 Ninety children with acute asthma were divided into mild group, moderate group and severe group according to the severity of the disease. Thirty healthy children were selected as control group. The levels of serum LTB4, IL-17, IgE and pulmonary function were compared among the four groups. 【Results】 The serum levels of IL-17, LTB4 and IgE in the mild, moderate and severe asthma groups increased gradually with the deepening of asthma, especially in the severe asthma group. There were significant differences among the groups (P<0.05). There was no significant difference in the levels of LTB4 between the mild group and the control group (P>0.05). The levels of each index in three groups of children with different degrees of asthma were significantly higher than those in the control group (P<0.05). The ratio of forced expiratory volume (FEV1)/forced vital capacity (FVC) in the first second (FEV1%), maximum expiratory flow (PEF), 50% and 25% vital capacity (V50, V25) of children in the mild, moderate and severe groups gradually decreased with the deepening of asthma, and the correlation value of lung function in the severe group decreased most significantly, with significant differences among the groups (P<0.05). 【Conclusion】 The serum levels of LTB4 and IL-17 in children with acute bronchial asthma are significantly increased, and the pulmonary function indexes such as PEF, FEV1%, V50% and V25% were significantly decreased, which is related to the severity of the disease.
