Abstract  【Objective】To explore the correlation between maintenance hemodialysis (MHD) patients' back strength and nutritional status. 【Methods】A total of 105 MHD patients admitted to two hospitals were selected in the study. The patients were divided into two groups (high and low back strength) according to their back strength levels. Then, the Modified Quantitative Subjective Global Assessment (MQSGA),Malnutrition-Inflammation Score (MIS),serum protein levels' detection and nutritional index detection were used to evaluate the nutritional status of the two groups of patients. The nutritional status scores, molecular nutritional status, and overall nutritional status were observed in the two groups, and the correlation between back strength and nutritional status were analyzed. 【Results】The scores of MQSGA and MIS in the high back strength group were higher than those in the low back strength group (P<0.05). Levels of Albumin (ALB),Prealbumin (PAB),Transferrin (TRF),and Total Protein (TP) in the high back strength group were higher than those in the low back strength group (P<0.05). The Body Mass Index (BMI),Triceps Skinfold (TSF) and Arm Muscle Circumference (AMC) of the patients in the high back strength group were greater than those in the low back strength group (P<0.05). Spearman rank correlation analysis showed that the back strength of maintenance hemodialysis patients was negatively correlated with nutritional status score, and positively correlated with molecular level and overall nutritional status indicators (P<0.05). 【Conclusion】There is a close relationship between the back strength of MHD patients and the nutritional status. Therefore development of personalized nutritional support programs based on the patient's condition is of great significance for improving back strength and improving the quality of life.
