Abstract  【Objective】 To investigate the correlation between the changes of serum angiotensin Ⅱ (Ang Ⅱ), aldosterone (ALD), high sensitivity C-reactive protein (hs CRP) and red blood cell distribution width (RDW) in patients with essential hypertension complicated with atrial fibrillation. 【Methods】 Nighty cases of patients with simple primary hypertension (control group) and 140 cases of patients with essential hypertension combined with atrial fibrillation were selected as the observation group. The serum levels of Ang Ⅱ, ALD, hs CRP and RDW were detected, and the left atrial diameter (LAD), left ventricular end systolic diameter (LVESD) and left ventricular end diastolic diameter (LVEDd) were compared between the two groups.【Results】 The levels of AngⅡ, ALD, hs-CRP, RDW and LAD in the observation group were significantly higher than those in the control group (P<0.05); there was no significant difference in LVESD and LVEDd between the two groups (P>0.05). The levels of AngⅡ, ALD, hs-CRP and RDW in patients with persistent atrial fibrillation were significantly higher than those in patients with paroxysmal atrial fibrillation (P<0.05). AngⅡand ALD were positively correlated with LAD (P<0.05), while hs-CRP and RDW levels were not significantly correlated with LAD (P>0.05). 【Conclusion】 The serum levels of AngⅡ, ALD, hs-CRP and RDW in patients with hypertension complicated with atrial fibrillation were significantly higher than those in patients with simple hypertension.
