Abstract  【Objective】To explore the effects of injecting rat nerve growth factor (NGF) into different parts of the body on the hearing and symptoms of patients with sudden deafness. 【Methods】 A total of 70 patients with sudden deafness admitted to the Hancheng People's Hospital from October 2019 to October 2022 were randomly divided into an observation group and a control group, with 35 cases in each group, using a random number table method. The control group received NGF injection into the buttocks, while the observation group received NGF injection under the periosteum of the mastoid process behind the ear. We compared the clinical efficacy, incidence of adverse reactions, disappearance time of clinical symptoms (including tinnitus, ear tightness, and dizziness), and hearing threshold values (including bone conduction and air conduction hearing thresholds) before and after treatment between two groups of patients. 【Results】The total effective rate of clinical efficacy in the observation group was 94.29%, significantly higher than the control group's 74.29%, and the difference was statistically significant (P<0.05). The disappearance time of tinnitus, ear tightness, and dizziness in the observation group was shorter than that in the control group, and the difference was statistically significant (P<0.05). After treatment, the bone conduction and air conduction hearing thresholds of the two groups of patients were lower than before treatment, and the difference was statistically significant (P<0.05); After treatment, the bone conduction and air conduction hearing thresholds in the observation group were lower than those in the control group, and the difference was statistically significant (P<0.05). There was no statistically significant difference in the total incidence of adverse reactions between the two groups of patients (P>0.05).【Conclusion】Compared with the injection of NGF into the buttocks, the injection of NGF into the subperiosteal area behind the ear and mastoid process has better clinical efficacy in the treatment of sudden deafness, with more significant improvement in clinical symptoms, promotion of hearing recovery, and higher safety.
