| Relationship of Serum 5-HT,DA and NE with Depression Severity in Patients with Breast Cancer after Chemotherapy |

Abstract 【Objective】 To investigate the relationship of serum serotonin (5-HT),dopamine (DA) and norepinephrine (NE) with the severity of depression in breast cancer patients after chemotherapy.【Methods】 Sixty patients who underwent adjuvant chemotherapy with depression after radical mastectomy in two hospitals were selected as the observation group; And 60 patients who received adjuvant chemotherapy without depression after radical mastectomy were selected as the control group.Serum 5-HT,DA,and NE levels were measured in both groups.Patients in the depression group were analyzed hierarchically according to the Self-rating Depression Scale (SDS) score.Then the relationship of depression severity with 5-HT,DA and NE were analyzed.【Results】 Serum 5-HT,DA and NE levels in the depression group were significantly lower than those in the control group (P<0.05).Serum 5-HT,DA and NE levels in patients with severe or moderate depression were lower than those in the mild group (P<0.05); And serum 5-HT,DA and NE levels in patients with severe depression were lower than those in the moderate group (P<0.05).After treatment, serum levels of 5-HT,DA and NE were significantly higher than those before treatment (P<0.05).There was a significant negative correlation of serum 5-HT,DA and NE levels with SDS scores in patients with depression receiving postoperative chemotherapy (P<0.05).【Conclusion】 Serum 5-HT,DA and NE levels were significantly lower in patients with depression while receiving adjuvant chemotherapy after radical mastectomy.There was a good correlation of depression severity with 5-HT,DA and NE levels.
