Abstract:【Objective】 To explore the application effect of endotracheal intubation sequential nasal high-flow oxygen therapy in patients in the intensive care unit(ICU) after weaning from mechanical ventilation and extubation.【Methods】 A total of 100 ICU patients receiving mechanical ventilation who were treated in our hospital from January 2023 to January 2025 were selected as the research subjects. They were divided into a control group and an observation group by the random number table method, with 50 cases in each group. Both groups received extubation after weaning from mechanical ventilation in accordance with unified standards. After extubation, the observation group was given endotracheal intubation sequential nasal high-flow oxygen therapy, while the control group was given oxygen inhalation via face mask at a flow rate of 6 L/min. The blood oxygen indicators [oxygen saturation(SaO2), partial pressure of oxygen in artery(PaO2), oxygenation index(OI)], reintubation rate within 48 hours after extubation, and ICU length of stay were compared between the two groups.【Results】 Forty-eight hours after the intervention, the SaO2, PaO2 and OI values of both groups were higher than those before the intervention, and the indexes of the observation group were higher than those of the control group(P<0.05). There were no statistically significant differences in the reintubation rate within 48 hours after extubation and ICU length of stay between the two groups(P>0.05).【Conclusion】 Endotracheal intubation sequential nasal high-flow oxygen therapy has a significant application effect in ICU patients after weaning from mechanical ventilation and extubation, which can significantly improve the blood oxygen indicators of patients with high safety.
