Abstract:【Objective】To investigate the effect of unsupported upper limb exercises combined with respiratory training on chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). 【Methods】A total of 90 patients with stable COPD, who were diagnosed and treated in the Second Affiliated Hospital of Henan University of Science and Technology from July to December 2021, were randomly divided into the observation group and the control group, with 45 cases in each group. The control group was treated with routine nursing intervention. While the observation group was treated with unsupported upper limb exercise combined with breathing training in addition to routine nursing. The total effective rate, 6-min walking distance, COPD patient Assessment Test (CAT) score, St. George's Breathing Questionnaire (SGRQ) score, self-rating Depression Scale (SDS) score and self-rating Anxiety Scale (SAS) score were compared between the two groups. 【Results】After intervention, the total effective rate of the observation group was higher than that of the control group, the difference was statistically significant (P<0.05). The 6-min walking distance of the observation group was much longer than that of the control group, and the difference was statistically significant (P<0.05). CAT scores, SGRQ scores, SDS scores and SAS scores in observation group were lower than those in control group, and the differences were statistically significant (P<0.05). 【Conclusion】Unsupported upper limb exercise combined with breathing training can enhance exercise endurance, improve quality of life,alleviate anxiety and depression of patients with stable COPD, which is worthy of clinical application.
