Abstract:【Objective】To investigate the efficacy of acupuncture combined with electrical stimulation and swallowing training in treating patients with stroke-related dysphagia. 【Methods】A total of 94 stroke patients with dysphagia were randomly divided into the observation group and the control group, each consisting of 47 patients. The control group received neural electrical stimulation and swallowing training intervention, while the observation group received acupuncture treatment in addition to the aforementioned therapies. Clinical efficacy was compared between the two groups. Swallowing function was assessed before and after the intervention using the Wada Water Swallowing Test and the Gugging Swallowing Function Assessment Scale (GUSS). The Swallowing Quality of Life questionnaire (SWAL-QOL), Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI), and Hamilton Depression Rating Scale (HAMD) were used to assess and compare the quality of life, sleep quality, and psychological status before and after the intervention in both groups. The incidence of complications was also compared. 【Results】The total effective rate of the observation group was significantly higher than that of the control group (P<0.05). After the intervention, the proportion of Grade Ⅰ in the Wada Water Swallowing Test in the observation group was significantly higher than that of the control group (P<0.05), while Grades Ⅱ, Ⅲ, and Ⅳ in the observation group were significantly lower those in the control group (P<0.05). GUSS scores of both groups increased post-intervention, with the observation group scoring was higher than the control group (P<0.05). Post-intervention, SWAL-QOL scores improved (P<0.05), while PSQI and HAMD scores decreased in both groups (P<0.05), with the observation group showing better scores than the control group (P<0.05). There was no significant difference in the total incidence of complications between the two groups (P>0.05). 【Conclusion】Acupuncture combined with electrical stimulation and swallowing training effectively treats stroke-induced dysphagia through improving patients' swallowing function and quality of life while maintaining high safety.
