Abstract:【Objective】To investigate the effect of canal wall up mastoidectomy (CWUM) on hearing and quality of life of patients with middle ear cholesteatoma (MEC). 【Methods】A total of 80 MEC patients admitted to Ankang Certral Hospital from August 2018 to August 2021 were selected and divided into observation group and control group according to different treatment methods, with 40 patients in each group. The observation group was treated with CWUM, and the control group was treated with open tympanoplasty. The clinical efficacy, hospitalization time, hearing improvement time, effusion disappearance time, operation cost, preoperative and postoperative quality of life, pure tone test results of the two groups were compared. 【Results】The total effective rate of the observation group was 95.00%, which was significantly higher than that of the control group (77.50%, P<0.05); The time of hospitalization, hearing improvement and effusion disappearance in the observation group were shorter than those in the control group (P<0.05);The improvement of air conduction (AC), bone conduction (BC) and air-bone gap (ABG) in the observation group after operation was better than that before operation and after operation in the control group (P<0.05); The scores of physical symptoms, utilization of medical resources, emotional disorder and life restriction in the observation group were higher than those before and after the operation in the control group (P<0.05). 【Conclusion】 CWUM treatment of MEC can significantly shorten the hospitalization time, improve the hearing of patients, and improve the clinical efficacy and quality of life of patients.
