Abstract:【Objective】 To investigate the clinical effect of biguanides on intestinal flora imbalance and metabolic disorder in elderly patients with T2DM. 【Methods】 A total of 150 elderly patients with T2DM who were treated in our hospital from January 2018 to June 2019 were selected and randomly divided into observation group and control group. The observation group was given metformin, and the control group was given placebo. The changes of intestinal flora, inflammatory indexes and metabolism of the two groups were compared before and after treatment. 【Results】 Between the two groups, there was no significant difference in the number of intestinal flora before treatment (P>0.05); After treatment, The number of Bifidobacterium and Lactobacillus increased significantly in the observation group, However, the number of Enterobacter and Enterococcus were significantly decreased (P<0.05); There was no significant difference in fasting blood glucose (FPG), postprandial 2h glucose (2hPG), triacylglycerol (TG), C-reactive protein (CRP), tumor necrosis factor between the two groups (P>0.05); After treatment, All the FPG、2hPG、TG、CRP、TNF-α levels in the observation group were significantly lower than those in the control group, All the differences were statistically significant (P<0.05). 【Conclusion】 Biguanides can better correct the imbalance of intestinal flora in elderly patients with T2DM, increase the number of beneficial bacteria, reduce the number of harmful bacteria, and correct metabolic disorders, which is worthy of clinical application.
