Abstract:【Objective】To explore the relationship between stress, depression and tobacco and alcohol use of mental health workers in township health centers of Hunan province.【Methods】From December 28, 2013 to January 13, 2014, 1 700 trainees who attended the training course of mental disease prevention and control in Hunan township health center were investigated. A total of 1546 students completed the scale and recovered it. The self-made tobacco and alcohol use questionnaire and life event scale (LES) and Beck Depression scale (BDI) were used to evaluate.【Results】The types of drinking, the frequency of weekly drinking, the amount of alcohol consumed and the number of smoking per day in males were significantly higher than those in females (P<0.001), and the scores of male stress and depression were significantly higher than those of females (P<0.001). There was a significant positive correlation between daily smoking and age, weekly drinking times, and alcohol consumption (P<0.05). Stress was negatively correlated with age (P<0.05), positively correlated with alcohol consumption and daily smoking (P<0.05), depression was negatively correlated with age (P<0.05), and positively correlated with the number of times of drinking per week, the amount of alcohol consumed once a week, the amount of daily smoking and the pressure(P<0.05). The frequency of drinking alcohol per week, the amount of alcohol consumed once were correlated with the stress and depression (P<0.05).【Conclusion】The stress and depression scores of mental health workers in township health centers of Hunan Province are all high, and the use of alcohol and tobacco is common. It is necessary to improve the working environment of employees, improve their working treatment, and promote the physical and mental health of grass-roots workers.
