Abstract:【Objective】 To investigate the clinical significance through measuring serum levels of hypoxia-inducing factor -α(HIF-α) and vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) in adult patients with sudden sensorineural hearing loss (SSHL).【Method】 Clinical data of 50 adult patients with SSHL admitted to our hospital were selected as the observation group, and 50 healthy volunteers who underwent physical examination in our hospital during the same period were selected as the control group. Serum HIF-α and VEGF levels in the two groups were detected, then their correlation to SSHL was analyzed. 【Result】 The level of HIF-α in the observation group was significantly higher than that in the control group (P<0.05). In the observation group, there was no significant difference in the HIF-α level among SSHL patients of different ages (P>0.05);The level of VEGF in the observation group was not significantly higher than that in the control group (P>0.05). However, the VEGF level of SSHL patients aged less than or equal to 40 years old was significantly higher than that of patients aged over 40 years old (P<0.05). There were no significant differences in the levels of HIF-α and VEGF in SSHL patients with different genders and deafness degrees (P<0.05). 【Conclusion】 The changes of serum HIF-α and VEGF levels in SSHL patients are related to the pathogenesis of SSHL. These changes and correlations may indicate the severity of the disease, help clinical treatment and evaluate the prognosis.
