| Efficacy of Percutaneous Transluminal Carotid Angioplasty and Stenting in Treatment of Patients with Internal Carotid Artery Stenotic Cerebral Infarction |

Abstract 【Objective】 To explore the efficacy of percutaneous transluminal carotid angioplasty and stenting (PTCAS) in the treatment of patients with internal carotid artery stenotic cerebral infarction. 【Methods】 A total of 100 patients with internal carotid artery stenotic cerebral infarction admitted from June 2023 to June 2025 were randomly divided into the control group and the observation group, with 50 cases in each group. The control group received simple carotid artery stenting, while the observation group was treated with PTCAS. Perioperative indicators, hemorheological parameters including fibrinogen (FIB), platelet aggregation rate (PAgT) and hematocrit (HCT), serological indicators including malondialdehyde (MDA), N-terminal pro-B-type natriuretic peptide (NT-proBNP) and osteopontin (OPN), neurological function assessed by National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS), activity of daily living evaluated by Barthel Index (BI), and the incidence of complications were compared between the two groups before and after treatment. 【Results】 The operation time of the observation group was longer than that of the control group, while the time to get out of bed and hospital stay were shorter than those of the control group (all P<0.05). After treatment, the levels of FIB, PAgT, HCT, MDA, NT-proBNP and OPN in the observation group were significantly lower than those in the control group (P<0.05). The NIHSS score of the observation group was lower, the BI score was higher, and the total incidence of complications was lower compared to the control group (P<0.05). 【Conclusion】 For patients with internal carotid artery stenotic cerebral infarction, PTCAS can reduce the incidence of complications, improve hemorheological indexes, promote the recovery of neurological function, and enhance patients' quality of life.
