Abstract  【Objective】To investigate the efficacy and safety of plasmakinetic enucleation of prostate (PKEP) in the treatment of massive benign prostatic hyperplasia.【Methods】A total of 112 patients with massive prostatic hyperplasia who were treated in our hospital from January 2020 to January 2021 were selected and divided into the observation group (n=56) and the control group (n=56).The patients in the observation group underwent PKEP, while the patients in the control group underwent transurethral plasma kinetic resection of prostate (TUPKP).The perioperative indexes and postoperative complications of the two groups of patients were compared. The patients were followed up for 3 months after the operation, then the follow-up related indexes, renal function, and sexual function of the two groups of patients before and after the operation were compared.【Results】The operation time, intraoperative blood loss, indwelling catheter time and hospital stay in the observation group were significantly shorter than those in the control group, and the weight of gland removal was significantly higher than that in the control group (P<0.05).The postoperative prostate symptom score (IPSS), quality of life score (QOL) and residual urine volume of the two groups were significantly lower than those before operation, and the maximum urinary flow rate was significantly higher than that before operation (P<0.05), but there were no significant differences of those parameters between the two groups (P>0.05).The postoperative blood urea nitrogen (BUN) and creatinine (Scr) of the two groups were significantly lower than those before the operation (P<0.05), however, there were no significantly different levels of BUN and Scr between the two groups (P>0.05).The scores of the International Index of Erectile Function (IIEF-5) at 6 months and 12 months after operation in the observation group were significantly lower than those before operation of the observation and those in the control group (P<0.05).The total incidence of complications in the observation group significantly lower than the control group (P<0.05).【Conclusion】The efficacy and safety of PKEP in the treatment of massive benign prostatic hyperplasia are good.
