Changes of Serum Procalcitonin Level and APACHE Ⅱ Score in Elderly Patients with Sepsis and its Influencing Factors |

Abstract 【Objective】To investigate the changes of serum procalcitonin (PCT) level, acute physiology and chronic health evaluation Ⅱ(APACHE Ⅱ) score and its influencing factors in elderly patients with sepsis.【Methods】 Clinical data of 90 elderly patients with sepsis were retrospectively analyzed and divided into high risk group (n=24), middle risk group (n=46) and low risk group (n=20) according to their APACHE Ⅱ scores. PCT level and APACHE Ⅱ score of the three groups were compared, Pearson test was used to analyze the correlation between PCT and APACHE Ⅱ score, and multiple Logistic regression was used to analyze the risk factors affecting senile sepsis. 【Results】The PCT level and APACHE Ⅱ score of the low-risk group were lower than those of the medium-risk group and high-risk group, and the medium-risk group was lower than the high-risk group (P<0.05). Pearson test showed that PCT level was positively correlated with APACHE Ⅱ score (r=0.857, P<0.05). Logistic regression analysis showed that PCT level and APACHE Ⅱ score were independent risk factors for senile sepsis (OR=5.078, 5.043, P<0.05). 【Conclusion】 The occurrence and progression of senile sepsis are related to the increase of serum PCT level and APACHE Ⅱ score, which should be paid attention to clinically.
