Expression of PPARγ and P16 in Cervical Intraepithelial Lesion and Cervical Cancer and Novel Relation with HPV Infection |

Abstract 【Objective】To investigate the expression of peroxisome proliferator activated receptor gamma (PPARγ) and P16 protein in cervical squamous cell carcinoma (SCC) and cervical intraepithelial lesion (SIL), and possible correlation with HPV infection. 【Methods】Expressions of PARγ and P16 in 17 cases of normal cervical epithelium (NCE),52 cases of SIL and 39 cases of SCC were measured by immunohistochemical MAXVisionTM method.HPV infection was detected by reverse dot blot hybridization method. The correlation between the expression of PPARγ and P16 with HPV infection was analyzed. 【Results】The positive expression rate of PPARγ and P16 from NCE to SIL and SCC showed a gradual increasing trend; the differences among groups were statistically significant (P<0.05). The infection rate of HPV in NCE,SIL and SCC was 29.41% (5/17),76.92% (40/52) and 97.44% (38/39), respectively, which also showed a gradual increasing trend. The difference between groups was statistically significant (P<0.05). The expressions of PPARγ and P16 were positively correlated with HPV infection (P<0.05). 【Conclusion】The expressions of PPARγ and P16 are highly expressed in cervical SCC tissues. PPARγ and P16 expressions are positively correlated with HPV infection, which play an important role in the development of cervical carcinoma.
