| Relationship of Serum LP-PLA2 and MMP-9 Levels with the Vulnerability of Carotid Plaque in Patients with Type 2 Diabetes and Cerebral Infarction |

Abstract 【Objective】To explore the relationship of serum lipoprotein-related phospholipase A2 (LP-PLA2) and matrix metalloproteinase-9 (MMP-9) levels with the vulnerability of carotid plaque in patients with type 2 diabetes (T2DM) and cerebral infarction (CI) . 【Methods】Clinical data of 115 patients of T2DM combined with CI were collected. The occurrence of carotid artery plaques in patients with T2DM and CI were counted. Factors affecting the vulnerability of carotid plaque in patients with T2DM and CI were analyzed. The value of serum LP-PLA2 and MMP-9 in T2DM patients combined with CI in predicting vulnerable carotid plaque was analyzed as well. 【Results】Among 115 patients with T2DM and CI, 64 (55.65%) were vulnerable plaques, and the remaining 51 (44.35%) were stable plaques. Logistic multivariate regression analysis showed that levels of LP-PLA2(OR:4.600,95%CI:1.893~11.179),MMP-9(OR:3.931,95%CI:1.618~9.555) and low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C,OR:4.067,95%CI:1.674~9.885)were independent factors affecting the stability of carotid plaque in patients with T2DM and CI (P<0.05). ROC curve analysis showed that serum LP-PLA2, MMP-9 and the combination of the two for predicting the AUC of vulnerable plaques in patients with T2DM and CI were 0.786, 0.721 and 0.884,respectively. 【Conclusion】T2DM patients with CI have a high risk of vulnerable plaque in the carotid artery, and LP-PLA2 combined with MMP-9 has a good predictive effect on the vulnerable plaque in the carotid artery.
