Abstract  【Objective】To investigate the effect of serum uric acid level during pregnancy on children with congenital heart disease (CHD). 【Methods】A total of 20 pregnant women who gave birth to CHD children in the obstetrics of our hospital were selected as the observation group, and 100 pregnant women whose offspring did not suffer from CHD in the same period were selected as the control group. The levels of serum uric acid and related indexes were compared between the two groups. The relationship between maternal indexes and offspring CHD was analyzed by binary logistic regression. 【Results】There was no significant difference in average age, gestational weeks, times of delivery and body mass index (BMI) between the two groups (P>0.05). The serum uric acid level, second-hand smoke exposure rate, abortion history and prevalence of hyperuricemia in the observation group were significantly higher than those in the control group, and there were significant differences between the two groups (P<0.05). Univariate logistic regression analysis showed that maternal BMI, second-hand smoke exposure, abortion history and hyperuricemia were correlated with the risk of CHD in offspring (P<0.05), but not with age, gestational week, gestational times and delivery times (P>0.05). The significant indexes of univariate analysis were included in multivariate logistic regression analysis. The results showed that maternal BMI, second-hand smoke exposure, abortion history and hyperuricemia were independent risk factors for CHD in offspring (P<0.05). 【Conclusion】Elevated serum uric acid level is a risk factor for CHD in children. Active treatment of hyperuricemia in pregnant women may reduce the incidence rate of CHD in children.
