Abstract  【Objective】 To investigate the expression of Mucin 5AC protein in gastric polyps and its clinical significance. 【Methods】 A total of 160 patients with gastric polyps treated in our hospital from January 2017 to January 2018 were selected, meanwhile 87 normal gastric mucosa tissues and 90 gastric cancer tissues were enrolled as controls.Mucin 5AC protein expression was detected by immunohistochemical staining. 【Results】 The positive expression rate of Mucin 5AC protein in gastric polyps was 64.38% (103/160), which was significantly higher than that in gastric cancer (41.11%, P<0.05), but lower than that in normal gastric tissues (87%, P<0.05). The positive expression rate of Mucin 5AC protein in proliferative polyps was 71.43%, which was significantly higher than that in adenomatous polyps (53.23%, P<0.05); There were no significant difference in terms of the positive expression rate of Mucin 5AC protein in different age, gender, size and location of gastric polyps (P>0.05). 【Conclusion】 Mucin 5AC protein may be down-regulated during malignant transformation of gastric polyps, which deserves further study.
