Abstract  【Objective】To investigate the effect of vitamin D in the treatment of childhood obesity and its effect on leptin and insulin resistance. 【Methods】The clinical data of 150 obese children admitted to our hospital from January 2022 to January 2023 were retrospectively analyzed, and they were divided into observation group (vitamin D treatment on the basis of control group) and control group (conventional treatment) according to treatment methods, with 75 cases in each group. Body weight indexes, 25 hydroxyvitamin D[25(OH)D], leptin, insulin resistance index (HOMA-IR), inflammatory factors [interleukin-8 (IL-8), interleukin-6 (IL-6), tumor necrosis factor-α (TNF-α)], oxidative stress indexes [superoxide dismutase (SOD), malondialdehyde (MDA) and reactive oxygen species (ROS)] of the two groups were compared. 【Results】There was no significant difference in height between the two groups before and after treatment (P>0.05). After treatment, the BMI of the two groups was lower than before treatment, and the observation group was lower than the control group, the difference was statistically significant (P<0.05). After treatment, 25(OH)D in both groups was higher than before treatment, leptin and HOMA-IR were lower than before treatment, 25(OH)D in the observation group was higher than the control group, leptin and HOMA-IR were lower than the control group, the difference was statistically significant (P<0.05). After treatment, serum levels of IL-8, IL-6, TNF-α, SOD, MDA and ROS in 2 groups were lower than before treatment, and the observation group was lower than the control group, the difference was statistically significant (P<0.05). 【Conclusion】Vitamin D can reduce the body mass index of obese children, improve the inflammatory response and oxidative stress response of children, increase the level of leptin, reduce HOMA-IR, and the application effect is good.
