| Effects of Glucocorticoid Combined with Vestibular Function Training on Balance Function and Oxidative Stress in Patients with Vestibular Neuritis |

Abstract 【Objective】To explore the effects of glucocorticoid combined with vestibular function training on the balance function,levels of inflammatory factors and oxidative stress in patients with vestibular neuritis. 【Methods】A total of 70 patients with vestibular neuritis who were diagnosed and treated in our hospitals were divided into the observation group (n=35 cases) and the control group (n=35 cases).The patients in the control group received vestibular function training only,while patients in the observation group were treated with prednisone tablets in addition to vestibular function training.The treatment contained 2 consecutive courses of 2-week treatment per course.The score of Berg Balance Scale (BBS),the levels of inflammatory factors interleukin-6 (IL-6),tumor necrosis factor-α (TNF-α),the levels of malondialdehyde (MDA) and superoxide dismutase (SOD),the markers of oxidative stress before and after treatment,and the clinical effects were observed and compared between the two groups before and after treatment. 【Results】After treatment,the BBS score and the level of serum SOD in the two groups were higher than before treatment (P<0.05).And those parameters of patients in the observation group were significantly higher than those of patients in the control group (P<0.05).Levels of serum TNF-α,IL-6 and MDA in the two groups after treatment were lower than those before treatment (P<0.05).Patients in the observation group showed significantly lower levels of TNF-α,IL-6 and MDA compared to patients in the control group (P<0.05).After treatment,the total effective rate of the observation group was higher than that the control group (P<0.05). 【Conclusion】Glucocorticoid combined with vestibular function training can improve the balance function of patients with vestibular neuritis,reduce the level of inflammatory factors,improve the level of oxidative stress,and improve the clinical efficacy.
