Abstract 【Objective】To investigate the correlation between mean platelet volume (MPV), red blood cell distribution width (RDW) and systemic lupus erythematosus activity index score (SLEDAI). 【Methods】According to SLEDAI score, 120 SLE patients were divided into active group and inactive group. 50 healthy volunteers in the same period were selected as the control group. The correlation between MPV and RDW and SLEDAI score was analyzed. ROC curve was used to evaluate the value of MPV and RDW in predicting patients' activity.【Results】(1) RDW, MPV, ESR, CRP and IgG in active group were significantly higher than those in inactive group and control group (P<0.05); HGB, C3 and C4 levels in active group were significantly lower than those in inactive group and control group (P<0.05). The levels of RDW, MPV, ESR, CRP and IgG in the inactive group were significantly higher than those in the control group (P<0.05); the levels of HGB, C3 and C4 in the inactive group were significantly lower than those in the control group (P<0.05). (2) Pearson correlation analysis showed that SLEDAI score was positively correlated with MPV and RDW (P<0.05). (3) The AUC and 95%CI of MPV were 0.594 and 0.468-0.697, respectively. When the cutoff point was 12.98 fL, the sensitivity and specificity were 56.9% and 77.4%, respectively.The prediction of RDW level shows that the AUC and 95%CI of activity were 0.687 and (0.417-0.783), respectively. When the cutoff point was 14.23%, the sensitivity and specificity were 67.8% and 86.7%, respectively.【Conclusion】 MPV and RDW have potential clinical value in assessing SLE disease activity.
