Abstract:【Objective】 To investigate the intervention effect of MAKS combined with reminiscence therapy on patients with dementia.【Methods】 Eighty patients with dementia were randomly divided into a control group and an observation group, with 40 patients in each group. The control group received routine interventions, while the observation group was treated with MAKS combined with reminiscence therapy. Differences in cognitive function [Montreal Cognitive Assessment (MoCA) score], agitated emotional and behavioral symptoms [Chinese version of the Cohen-Mansfield Agitation Inventory (CMAI) score], activities of daily living [Alzheimer's Disease Cooperative Study-Activities of Daily Living (ADCS-ADL) score], neuropsychiatric symptoms [Neuropsychiatric Inventory-Nursing Home Version (NPI-NH) score], and quality of life [Quality of Life in Alzheimer's Disease (QOL-AD) score] were compared between the two groups before and after the intervention.【Results】 After the intervention, the observation group had higher MoCA scores (P<0.05), lower CMAI scores in all items (P<0.05), higher ADCS-ADL scores (P<0.05), lower NPI-NH scores (P<0.05), and higher QOL-AD scores in all items (P<0.05)than those the control group.【Conclusion】 The application of MAKS combined with reminiscence therapy in the intervention for patients with dementia can effectively improve cognitive function, alleviate agitated emotional and behavioral symptoms, enhance activities of daily living, improve neuropsychiatric status, and enhance quality of life.
