Abstract:【Objective】To investigate the correlation between neutrophil to lymphocyte ratio (NLR) and contrast-induced nephropathy (CIN) after coronary angiography (CAG).【Methods】A total of 125 patients who underwent CAG examination in our hospital were studied. According to the occurrence of CIN, 125 patients were divided into the CIN group and the non CIN group. Baseline data of the two groups were compared. Multivariate logistic stepwise regression analysis was used to screen the independent risk factors of CIN. Receiver operating curve (ROC) was used to analyze the value of NLR ratio in predicting CIN.【Results】CIN occurred in 23 out of 125 patients, with an incidence of 18.4%. Compared to the non-CIN group, patients in the CIN group were older with higher proportion of diabetes mellitus, urea nitrogen, serum creatinine, urinary β-2 microglobulin, C-reactive protein and NLR ratio (P<0.05), while the GFR was significantly decreased (P<0.05) and the dosage of contrast agent was significantly increased in the CIN group (P<0.05). Multivariate logistic stepwise regression analysis showed that age, diabetes mellitus, basic renal insufficiency, serum creatinine, C-reactive protein, NLR ratio and contrast agent dosage were independent risk factors for CIN (P<0.05). When the cut-off value was 6.5, the area under the ROC curve was 0.865 of NLR ratio in predicting CIN; the sensitivity and the specificity were 85.9% and 83.4%, respectively.【Conclusion】NLR ratio (≥6.5) is an independent risk factor for CIN and it has high value in predicting CIN.
