Analysis of the Screening Results of Congenital Heart Disease in Newborns in the Wuzhong District, Suzhou City from 2021 to 2024

Abstract  【Objective】To analyze the screening situation of congenital heart disease (CHD) in neonates in Wuzhong District, Suzhou City from 2021 to 2024. 【Methods】A retrospective analysis was conducted on the relevant general data of 11,816 live newborns and their parturients registered in the Wuzhong District, Suzhou City from January 2021 to December 2024.The number of registered people, the number of screened people and the screening rate, the number of positive screening people and the initial screening positive rate, the number of people diagnosed by cardiac ultrasound and the diagnosis rate, the number of people diagnosed with CHD and the diagnosis rate, as well as the number of people who received surgical treatment and the treatment outcome were statistically analyzed.【Results】There was no statistically significant difference in the general data of neonates and parturients with CHD in the Wuzhong District, Suzhou City from 2021 to 2024 (P>0.05). A total of 11 816 newborns were registered during the four years, and 11 807 were actually screened, with a screening rate of 99.92%. During the period from 2021 to 2024, the screening rate remained basically unchanged, but the positive rate of the initial screening decreased somewhat, and the diagnosis rate of positive pre-existing heart disease in the initial screening increased significantly (P<0.05). The comparison of CHD classification of newborns in Wuzhong District, Suzhou City from 2021 to 2024 showed no statistically significant difference (P>0.05). Among the 105 children with CHD, 25 were cured, 3 underwent surgical treatment, 2 died, and the rest remained uncured by the end of the follow-up. 【Conclusion】The neonatal CHD screening work in Wuzhong District, Suzhou City remained at a high level during the period from 2021 to 2024. The positive rate of the initial screening decreased, while the diagnosis rate of positive CHD in the initial screening and the diagnosis rate by echocardiography remained stable.
